How to Add a Bible Verse to Your iPad Smart Stack
Your iPad's Smart Stack already knows your day better than you'd think. Weather in the morning, your calendar before a meeting, a photo memory in the evening — it quietly swaps what's on top depending on the hour. It's one of the few things on the Home Screen that changes without you touching it.
That's exactly the kind of place a verse belongs: not pinned down, not demanding attention, just taking its turn.
Here's how to give it one.
1. Add Bible Clock to a Smart Stack you already have
If you've already grouped a few widgets into a stack on your Home Screen:
- Touch and hold the stack until it jiggles, then tap Edit Stack.
- Tap + Add Widget, search for Bible Clock, and choose the verse widget in whichever size fits the stack.
- Tap outside to save. The verse card now shuffles in with the rest, on iPadOS's own schedule.
2. Build a fresh stack around it
Don't have a stack yet? Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap the + in the corner, find Bible Clock, and drag its widget onto the screen. Then drag one or two more widgets directly on top of it — iPadOS bundles them into a stack automatically. Turn on Smart Rotate in the stack's settings if you want iPadOS to decide when the verse should surface; leave it off if you'd rather it stay put near the top.
3. Skip the shuffle entirely
If you don't want to wait for the stack to get to it, you can always swipe down through the stack by hand to land on the verse card whenever you like — no rotation required.
A quiet note: the whole point of a stack is that you don't control exactly when things appear. Some days the verse will surface first thing; other days it'll be three swipes down, or it won't come up at all before you lock the screen again. None of that is a failure. A companion doesn't need a fixed appointment — it just needs to be somewhere you'll eventually pass by.
